Broken Bridge, Pine Creek, South Wallowas, Oregon . . .
On the road in the American Northwest.

A broken bridge between two brothers,
Always sad, never needed,
Who will be the first to repair?
The one who waits, or the one who doesn't dare?

The water that passes still remembers,
When fish returned with gifts from the sea,
And hurts and bruises mended easily,
In games of war played round the family tree.

Who will be the first to remember?
A broken bridge between two brothers,
Always sad, and never, never needed.
