Wild Bergamot, bracts . . .
(Monarda fistulosa) A member of the Mint family (Lamiaceae).
I can't say which is more beautiful -- the distinctive light green bracts protecting the flowers just before
opening, or the lavender flowers themselves after they appear in a week or so.
Native to the prairies of North America.
