Willow April, the male flowers . . .
(Salix spp.)  A native of North America. Two
signature features of the Willow species are in evidence here: (1) The not yet
open leaf buds have nut a single scale; (2) The small trees are dioecious, with
the male and female flowers on separate plants. So one should know that Nature
as photographed above is putting on an entirely male show!
