bouncing bet

BOUNCING BET! . . . (Saponaria officinalis)  A member of the Pink Family. Introduced from Europe.
The common name originates from the plant's use in North American colonial times as a soap substitute.
(Bouncing Bet was a nickname for a washerwoman.)
