viola

Native Violets . . . North America.

How can one not but admire the beauty of this form?
A turn of phrase from Henry David Thoreau's Walden [Economy]
comes to mind:

"sacrament, that is, as the dictionary defines it,
"outward and visible sign
of an inward and spiritual grace,' [...]

In music, one could easily change this to:
"an outward and audible sign
of an inward and visible grace."

Indeed, why should not the violinist or flutist sound
melodies giving shape to a geometry as naturally balanced
and graceful as that of a spring flower?
