Pondering water in flowing movement is like listening
closely to overtones played on a single vibrating string.
There is no end to the mystery.
I have spent many years in the highcountry of both North
America and Europe wandering from spring to spring,
and from alpine stream to alpine stream. One quickly learns
that these sources of pure water are the real centers of
the natural world. We can do without many things, but
not without these:
New meaning necessitates new form.
After drinking from the source of a hundred
mountain streams, even the finest of wine
glasses may no longer suffice.
